Liz & Mike's Nantucket Summer Engagement

We couldn't be more excited for Liz & Mike's wedding this coming June! After our first meeting, we decided on a Nantucket Engagement session in Sconset. We started at the Sankaty Lighthouse, strolled through the town of Sconset and finished with a pink sky on Sconset Beach. Liz looked like an island princess in her adorable Island Company dresses. Cheers to Liz & Matt - we are so so happy for you!

Nantucket Holiday Inspiration Shoot with Emily Nantucket

The Holiday season is HERE! Christmas Stroll starts on Nantucket this weekend and Emily of Emily Nantucket and I were inspired by the magic in the air to do a little festive styled shoot. I really can't take any credit for the gorgeous scene she created. She had a vision and brought it to life on a gorgeous November night last week. Emily's festive holiday spread was was inspired by The Ghost of Christmas Present, from Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol. Surrounded by traditional fresh evergreens and fruits, she wanted to capture the beauty of now and to cherish what we have every day! I absolutely love what she created and I am so thankful to have been able to be a part of it.  Did I mention she's also the gorgeous model and how adorable is her pup Moby!? He was such a good boy and clearly a natural model. Talk about golden hour - the light changed about 5 different times during our 2 hours together and we loved every sparkly surprise it brought. Here are a few of our favorites! Keep an eye on our social media for more! HERE for Emily's Instagram // HERE for Rebecca's Instagram

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

All of the beautiful jewelry seen below is from Jewel in the Sea Nantucket and you can get it here this weekend! The gorgeous calligraphy was done by the talented Danielle Williams of Danielle Williams Calligraphy. Dress by Zara. Hair & Makeup by none other than Emily Nantucket. Model - Emily. Wreath by Emily

PS - Emily will be selling homemade Evergreen Crowns for Stroll Weekend on Saturday at 10:30am right in front of Jewel in the Sea Nantucket! They are gorgeous!

Ali & Matt's Nantucket Engagement

Ali knew she wanted her engagement photos to be taken in Sconset and at the Sankaty Lighthouse because that's where Matt proposed to her one year before! It's also where she spent a lot of time over the years so there was no question about location! We had the perfect evening for photos as we rode (Ali & Matt on their bikes) through town, over to the Lighthouse and then to the beach for a cotton candy sky sunset. They brought along their sweet pup Daisy for the photos - she will be their dog of honor at their wedding next year! We are so excited to share a few of our favorites from their classic Nantucket engagement session and even more excited for their wedding next year! Cheers to Ali & Matt!

CJ & Gonca's Nantucket Engagement // Cisco Brewers & Ladies Beach

CJ and Gonca will be married on Nantucket next November and we couldn't be more excited to be their photographers! We met on a gorgeous fall afternoon downtown to start their e-session. Gonca knew exactly what she wanted for backdrops - white shell driveways, Nantucket side streets, one of their favorite spots on island - Cisco Brewers, and a sunset on the beach. We hit every spot and and even scored with a few Cisco van shots in the parking lot of the brewery. The sky put on a show for us at our last stop. I wouldn't shut up about how gorgeous their night was. It's a photographer's dream to have a day like we had. As if the scenery wasn't beautiful enough, Gonca's smile was the best part of our time together. These two lovebirds shared so many laughs and smiles as we strolled around town. It is always so special to see two people so in love that it shines through each and every photo. Cheers to Gonca & CJ! We can't wait to see you again as a Bride & Groom! XO

Whitney & Rob's Nantucket Engagement

Oh my, I absolutely LOVED looking back at Whitney & Rob's Nantucket engagement photos to get this post ready. I try not to throw around the word magical too much but I swear there was something magical about this night. Whitney decided to start the session at a spot that means so much to her, the house where she spent most of her childhood, built by her Dad and his brothers and named after her Grandpa Whit. It was the perfect place to begin. We walked around the property and down the road while the gorgeous light flickered through the trees and then finished the session at Madaket Beach with a lovely sunset. You can't beat heading to Millie's post-photos which is exactly what they did to meet up with friends for drinks and tacos.  It was a perfect night and it got me even more excited for their wedding next September! Cheers to Whitney & Rob - we are so happy for you both!  PS - How gorgeous is Whitney?!

Dawn & Max's Nantucket Wedding

dawn max cover.jpg

Dawn & Max were married at the Wherowhero House on a gorgeous summer afternoon.  It was extra special for us because it was the first wedding we've photographed at the house, the same place we were married almost 5 years ago! One of my favorite moments of the day was when Dawn walked through the entrance to see the ceremony and reception all set up - it was absolutely dreamy and she was overwhelmed! Her tears of joy were just the start of a most memorable day. Her good friend Kelsea Day created stunning arches, tablescapes and bouquets and turned the big Wherowhero yard into a fairytale setting.

I first met Dawn & Max at Steps Beach for their engagement photos {CLICK HERE to see their e-session highlights}. They aren't just a stunning couple, they are funny and so very kind and when I say funny, I mean Dawn just might just be one of the funniest people I know. Needless to say, they sure did make our job easy! We love that they included their sweet pup Diggy in some of the photos - he was such a trooper! It was such a blast looking through their photos again and reliving an amazing day celebrating Dawn & Max surrounded by friends and family. Here are just a few of our favorites! Cheers to the happy couple!

Kara & Zach's Nantucket Dreamland Wedding

I first met Kara & Zach on a cool fall day downtown on Main Street for their Engagement photos (CLICK HERE to view their e-session). We had such an amazing time adventuring around town finding some of the most beautiful spots. It wouldn't be long before we were back downtown on their wedding day visiting some of the very same spots and finding some new ones. Kara was just stunning. She looked like a princess as she stepped into her dress and put on her earrings. Sometimes I can't contain my excitement when I'm watching my brides get ready and this was one of those days! Kara wanted to do a first look on the front lawn of the home where they were staying. As their family looked down from the porch above, Kara walked out to meet Zach and as he turned around tears filled his eyes. It was such a beautiful moment. After the first look, we headed into town for some portraits. It was no surprise that everyone we passed stopped in their tracks to take in all the beauty. We didn't have to go far to get to their wedding venue, the beautiful Dreamland Theatre. Their ceremony was filled with love and happy tears and was followed by a rooftop cocktail hour. The reception was just down the hall in the great room and was filled with bright and sophisticated details. There was dancing, coffee and conversations as the sun went down over the harbor. It was a day dreams are made out of and I'm so excited to finally share it with you!

Katie & Josh's Nantucket Wedding

Katie & Josh were married last month on a perfect summer day surrounded by friends and family. The weekend started with a lovely rehearsal dinner and welcome party at Galley Beach. Katie and her Mother designed gorgeous tablescapes and the perfect backdrop for a classic Nantucket Lobster Bake. One of my favorite details from the night was the collage of pictures of the bride and groom from years past on each of the tables. It was the perfect way to look back through the years and see where the couple began. The night concluded with close friends and family giving heart felt speeches about the bride and groom. There were so many laughs and happy tears. It was truly a special evening.

The wedding day started at Katie's family home in Quidnet. It was the perfect place for her friends to gather and celebrate before the getting ready began. We made a quick stop at the path to Quidnet beach which is a very special place for Katie and then headed to make it to the church on time. Flowers on Chestnut did a wonderful job making the church look picture perfect for the ceremony. After  the I Do's and first kiss, the happy couple made their way outside while guests tossed rose petals and cheered. A trumpeter led the bride, groom and guests down the street to the Nantucket Yacht Club where the party was about to begin. The night was filled with dancing, a few more happy tears and lots of laughs. We couldn't be happier for Katie & Josh. They are truly meant for each other and we were so thankful to have been there to capture some of the most special moments from the day. Cheers to Katie & Josh!

Julia & Brendan's Cape Cod Wedding // Popponesset Inn

Julia & Brendan were married on a perfect spring night at the Popponesset Inn in Mashpee, MA. We were beyond thrilled to be there to capture this most beautiful for such a sweet couple. We first met Julia & Brendan when Brendan surprised his wife-to-be with a proposal on her favorite beach in Madaket. The sunset was one of the most beautiful I'd ever seen with a cotton candy sky that just happened to match Julia's dress. A year later we met again for their engagement photos at Brant Point & Steps Beach - another amazing sunset to finish off that night. This was the year they finally said I DO and we were crying happy tears as they said their vows and became husband and wife. Julia put so much time and effort into planning this amazing day and it really showed. Her bouquet was perhaps the MOST beautiful I have ever seen, made by the lovely ladies at Beach Plum Floral. The tables were covered in oyster shells and hand picked glasses. Their specialty cocktail was a Figawi Wowie which made us feel right at home. The speeches proved just what we had already known - these two are the real deal, genuinely kind and caring people who love their friends and family with everything in them.  night closed with a most epic dance party - champagne was flowing and the music was so good - so many classics! We couldn't help but scream out the songs with the guests. It was truly a day to remember for a couple who have become our friends. We couldn't be more happy for this sweet couple. Cheers to Julia & Brendan! We can't wait for next year's photos! xoxo

Weiss Family Photos on Nantucket

Lisa and her family were in town for her sister Kara's wedding (blog post coming soon!) and decided to get some family photos since it was their first time on island. We met downtown and little Matthew was smiling and ready to explore. After strolling through town we ended up at Brant Point and ended just before a little rain shower. It was truly a pleasure meeting this sweet family of three and even better that I got to see them a few days later at the wedding!

Meet Alicia

She is the newest addition to the Dreamland team, so very sweet and has one of the best smiles I've ever seen! It was such a pleasure meeting Alicia for some photos around town last week. She is the new Director of Programs at the Nantucket Dreamland and if you're planning an event or wedding, you'll have the pleasure of meeting her! Dawn & Max's Nantucket Engagement at Steps Beach

Dawn & Max will be married next month here on Nantucket and we have the great pleasure of being there to photograph their special day! We met at Steps Beach on Saturday night for their engagement photos and we could not have had a more perfect night. We had discussed going to a second location but the sunset was just too pretty to leave the beach.

Max asked Dawn to marry him at the very same beach last year so this was truly a special night for them. We had so much fun and it got me even more excited for July 15th! Here are some of my favorites from the amazing evening. Cheers to Dawn & Max!

Allison & Connor's Nantucket Engagement

Allison and Connor's wedding is coming up this October! We met the other night out in Sconset for some spring engagement photos. We started on  the gorgeous Sconset Bluff walk and then headed to Sankaty for some photos in front of the lighthouse. We shared a lot of laughs and I am so excited to see them again in just a few months for their big day. Cheers to Allison & Connor!

Lauren & Henry's Nantucket White Elephant Wedding

I had the pleasure of meeting Lauren & Henry at their engagement photo session last year. It was a beautiful fall day on Nantucket with lots of wind! We chatted about their big day and how it would be here before we knew it. They were married on a perfect foggy May day. The clouds rolled in a little before the ceremony and he rain was coming but didn't begin until everyone was warmly tucked away under the awning on the lawn of the beautiful White Elephant Hotel. We had so much fun photographing this special day! Betsey Brooks did such a lovely job decorating the tables with beautiful touches of white and green. Lauren looked like a princess in her Lovely Bride gown. It was a day to remember! Cheers to Lauren & Henry!

Rachel Elizabeth // Nantucket Lifestyle Photos

I first met Rachel back in 2015 when we connected over email to talk business and travel! Rachel needed some new lifestyle photos for her website so we headed out to the state forest for some new photos and ended up with a lasting friendship! Rachel is in the process of re-branding so it was time for some new photos! We headed down to Main Street and Steps Beach on a perfect May night. She was GLOWING and I just loved the outfits she chose for our session! She is a ray of sunshine and sure to put a smile on your face. I was so happy to be able to capture these photos for her!

Nantucket Betsey of Bitsy and Betsey Floral & Design

What can't this amazing woman do?! I had the pleasure of meeting Betsey back in 2013 when I first moved to Nantucket and since then she has never ceased to amaze me. Not only is she the beautiful Mama of the most adorable twins, she also rocks a floral design business and is now a designer of some seriously cute gear for the kiddos!  If you are looking for florals for your upcoming Nantucket wedding or the perfect summer outfit for your little one, Betsey does it all! You can check out her work HERE and HERE

Emily Nantucket

I had the pleasure of photographing the lovely Emily Denny of Emily Nantucket this month. I just love this lady! We met on a perfect May afternoon on Ladies Beach for a mix of fun lifestyle photos. Emily brought a few props which were a perfect fit for her beach beauty vibes! Emily is a super talented Hair & Makeup Artist here on the island and one of the sweetest ladies you'll ever meet! She also recently started doing Organic spray tans which is making for magical glowing beauties all over the island! If you're here for Nantucket family photos, a Nantucket wedding or just a short visit and want to feel like a queen for the day, she's the one to see! Here are some of my favorites from our afternoon together! Did I mention how much I love her?! Contact Emily HERE

Meg & Dave's Daffy Day Wedding

I had the pleasure of photographing a perfectly intimate Daffy Day elopement on Nantucket last month. Meg owns a Yoga studio here on island and Dave works at the local Nantucket Boys & Girls Club. They live in a magical house surrounded by daffodils and a bamboo forest. Love surrounded every detail of the day. It was obvious and undeniable.

It was clear Meg & Dave were soulmates from the moment I met them. They were married on their back porch surrounded by their closest friends and family. It's difficult to put into words how lovely this wedding was. From the VW bug in the driveway decorated in daffodils to the way the light fell on the flowers popping up in the yard, Meg was a classic beauty. Her dress was so elegant and unique. Dave's eyes lit up when he saw her walk up to meet him. It's no surprise, she was glowing! After they said I DO Meg put a record on while their guests enjoyed champagne. We snuck out as the sun was setting for some photos around their property, in front of their favorite trees and finished the evening looking up at the moon peeking through the trees. It was a Daffy Day I will never forget! Cheers to Meg & Dave!

Kara & Zach's Nantucket Engagement

I met Kara and Zach at the Hub for their engagement photos. We'll be photographing their wedding this summer at the Nantucket Dreamland and we can't wait! We started our session downtown as the sun hid behind some clouds and our classic Grey Lady fog rolled in. We felt like we had the entire town to ourselves, one of the perks of off-season e-sessions. We strolled down Main Street and ended up at Old North Wharf. The docks were as empty as the streets so we headed out to the end of the wharf for some shots at the water. It was windy and very chilly but Zach and Kara were such troopers! They might have had blue hands by the time we headed back to town but we  warmed them up in the car and it was worth it! We ended our session on Steps Beach. Just as we were finishing up, as they sat wrapped in a blanket the sun peeked out and we got some amazing light to end the night. It was such a beautiful night with this sweet couple. We are so looking forward to seeing them again this summer! Congratulations Kara & Zach!

A Community of Inspiration

As I was falling asleep last night I started to think about the last 7 days and the experiences I've had this week. I met so many strong, brave and talented women and caught up with a few of my favorite local Nantucket small business owners. I'm going to share a little bit about the week and what these brilliant women are up to!

I started the week off with Caroline Ott, one of the sweetest women I know and I am NOT just saying that! Caroline is starting a Nantucket Wedding Planning company this May! I can't begin to tell you how excited I am for her and her new endeavor! You will soon be able to check out her website and what she'll be up to this summer! Her launch date is May 1st and I might just stay up for it - I am THAT excited! Caroline's sister, Emily, owns the lovely Milly & Grace down on Washington Street. I think there is some magic within these sisters. Everything they touch comes to life, sparklers and shines. Nantucket weddings are in for an upgrade! Brides, SAVE THE DATE! (I will share more details as soon as I have them!)

The next afternoon was spent with the lovely Meg Blair-Valero, owner of Fogged In Bookkeeping. We took some detail shots for her new website coming soon and then headed downtown for some lifestyle photos and a coffee at Handlebar Cafe. It was a rainy grey lady day but that didn't stop us! Fogged In is just one of the many businesses Meg runs. She is a force to be reckoned with and an all around amazing woman. I feel so lucky to know her and call her a friend!

45 Surfside, a new cafe on the way to the beach was the next stop. I met Portia and her Mother Rebecca, owner of the Bakery/Cafe. I have been frequenting this new spot for coffees, cupcakes, breakfast and lunch so what a pleasure it was to meet these sweet ladies for some detail shots of the space and their specialties, like their brand new Icey Surfside Mocha Coffee. I haven't tried their cakes yet but I'm looking for any excuse to throw a party just so I can order one.

Friday and Saturday I photographed the Brand Human Nantucket event at the Nantucket Hotel. I don't even know where to start for this one. I of course was there to work but couldn't help absorb the creativity that was flowing throughout the ballroom. There were about 50 attendees and these 48 ladies and 2 men were the real deal. Everyone was there to hear from Jasmine Takinikos, founder and CEO of Jasmine Takinikos Consulting Group and creator of the global workshop and lecture series Brand Human and Holly Finigan, founder of Nantucket blACKbook. The event had a full lineup of successful entrepenuers including Jeannie Vincent from Follain, and Jason Bridges from Handlebar & Nantucket Bike Tours. It was a time of learning, reflecting, bouncing ideas off one another and challenging ourselves. I am truly grateful to have been a part of this event with such an inspiring group of creatives!

Sunday was the grand finale with the ladies of Grey Lady Revelry Co., a new event planning company based in Boston serving Nantucket and beyond. They had arranged a styled shoot at the lovely Greydon House. They did all of the planning and preparing. They managed to secure an ALL-STAR lineup with Emily Denny of Emily Nantucket doing hair & makeup, the lovely Dorothy Stover as our bride and the handsome Delroy Lawrence as our groom. Megan Fahy Calligraphy created a gorgeous invitation suite and jewelry was provided by Jewel In The Sea. More details to come on this magical shoot. Keep an eye out for the launch of the GLR website

I don't usually share my weekly happenings in such detail but as I mentioned before when I recapped the week I realized what an incredible group of women business owners I had the pleasure of working with and I just had to write about it!  All of them, in their own unique ways inspire me in different areas of my life and I am truly grateful to know them!
