Cousins & Daffodils

My Dad and niece had a plan to visit us on Nantucket this year – they didn’t have any dates set but assured me it would happen. I was trying not to get my hopes up just in case it didn’t work out.  I called him a couple of weeks ago and suggested that they come up for the Nantucket Daffodil Festival. I explained what an exciting weekend it was and promised him they wouldn’t be disappointed. He said he’d think about it. A few days later he called me and said he thought it might work. My hopes were officially UP! I began planning our Daffy weekend and eventually he confirmed they would make the trip. I checked the extended weather forecast every day praying for a dry and warm weekend. The weather looked good! They arrived on Friday morning and the fun began! I had planned to take some photos of my beautiful niece Isabella with Willow at some point during their time here. I even reached out to my friend and talented designer, Betsey Brooks of Betsey Brooks Floral & Design to see if she could make up a couple of floral crowns for the girls – something simple and easy.  When we picked up the crowns on Friday afternoon, I was blown away – they were GORGEOUS! She always outdoes herself. After choosing their outfits, we headed out to find the perfect patch of daffodils. It was pretty cold so we knew we had to be quick. We parked the car, took off their winter coats and hats and headed over to the flowers.

Isabella’s beauty shines from within. She is quite the little lady – smart, kind, polite, brave and has the most adventurous spirit! She is a dreamer and I hope to be like her someday! I had no idea how precious their little photo shoot would be. I will cherish this time and these photos forever!

“Never let it be said that to dream is a waste of time. For dreams are our realities in waiting. In dreams, we plant the seeds of our future.”
