Katie’s Nantucket Family Photos at the Beach

We photographed Katie’s wedding many years ago, so when she asked us to photograph her family portraits this year, we were absolutely delighted! We met at a local beach and stayed mostly in the path, letting their sweet girl lead the way with her beautiful smile and kind personality. My advice for family photos is to keep it simple – go to a place that you are familiar with and a place that the kiddos already know and love. I also give them the choice to pick the spot where we’ll start photos – this makes them a bit more comfortable and allows them to feel included in the whole process. We often get overcast days on Nantucket, and I always tell our families – overcast days make for some really beautiful photos! Don’t be dismayed if you don’t see the sun on the day of your shoot – we will still get some great shots for you and sometimes the sky looks even more beautiful! They don’t call it the Grey Lady for nothing. Here are a few highlights from our time together.
