Hunter and Emily’s wedding took place on a beautiful September afternoon at Wentworth Lodge in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The weather was perfect, the sky was blue and the joy was palpable. Emily got ready in the lodge overlooking the ocean. It was peaceful, quiet and calm as I set up the details on the porch. Emily got into her dress while her Mom and sister assisted before the big reveal with her friends. Meanwhile, out on the deck, the girls kept their eyes shut until Emily was standing right in front of them. Their reactions were priceless. After some hugs and celebrating, it was time for Emily’s first look with Hunter. We headed out to the lawn and captured the moment Hunter turned around to see his beautiful bride. Next, it was time to hide the bride and groom away during the guest arrivals.
The ceremony overlooked the ocean with beautiful florals by Beautiful Days Events and Florals. It was a pretty warm day which made the water and iced tea for guests a pretty wonderful idea. Ceremony time had arrived. Emily started the walk down the aisle with her father led by the cutest flower girl and ring bearer. Hunter had tears in his eyes as he watched the love of his life walk toward him. After the vows, readings and the First Kiss, the couple walked back up the aisle as guests tossed petals. Hunter stopped about half way down the aisle for a dip and kiss. It was time to head to the reception.
The details at the reception were thoughtfully envisioned by the bride and there’s no question that her team brought them to life just the way she had imagined. The escort display was tall boards with alphabetical names and table numbers surrounded by potted plants and vintage boxes and bins. There was an an antique typewriter and a book to sign your name and leave a note for the newlyweds. After cocktail hour was over, we took the couple on a walk towards the water for some sunset portraits. It was the perfect time for these as the guests made their way under the tent for the reception. We couldn’t have asked for a better sunset.
The happy couple was announced by the band and were greeted with cheers and a standing ovation. Lots of laughter, a few happy tears and some epic dance moves made for the perfect end to an absolutely perfect day. We wish we could do it all over again! Here are just a few of our favorite photos from the day. Cheers to Emily and Hunter! We are already counting down the days to when we will get back to Cape Elizabeth, Maine for another Wentworth Lodge wedding. The venue was truly special!
